    Hi, all

I am a newbie of Toshiba laptop and I found it is very helpful here.

Since there is no partition of my 120G hard drive, I plan to partition the hard drive. Should I format and reinstall the system first? I am not sure whether I can use the recovered CD from Toshiba to restall the system.

Any suggestion on upgrade the memory from 512M to 1G? can I use other brands of memory besides Toshiba itself?

    Thanks a lot.

I believe that Toshiba is using 2x 256MB sticks. If you want to upgrade to 1GB you will need to buy 1x 1GB stick or 2x 512MB sticks. The latter I believe will allow you to use them in dual-channel. You can use 200-pin SO-DIMM PC2-4200 or PC2-5300 from almost any brand. Just make sure the place you buy it from will let you exchange it if it for some reason won't work, although it will most likely work.

Just check and make sure if you do upgrade that you are still under warranty.
