I am thinking about upgrading my Toshiba A135-S2276 to dual-channel memory. Here come some problems.

    1. Can A135-S2276 run dual-channel memory?

    2. Does it support DDR2-667?

    3. Is it true that DDR2-667 is SLOWER than DDR2-533?

    4. Can 512MB and 1GB memory chips run in dual-channel?

    5. Must I buy the dual-channel kit? Or can I do dual-channel by using two different brands?

    6. Why cannot CPU-Z identify OCZ 25331024VSO memory?

    7. Did anybody here successfully configure dual-channel memory on Toshiba A135-S2276 and VERIFY it by CPU-Z?

This is my first computer. I have read a lot of posts here but am still not sure about the questions above. I have an OCZ 1GB DDR2-533 and a samsung 512MB DDR2-533 which comes with the laptop. The CPU-Z shows "single channel". But I read a post which said 512MB and 1GB could go dual-channel. That is why I also post the Question 4 here.

A thousand thanks to the fellows who can help answer those questions! :)

    1. Yes

    2. Yes, but you are going to be limited to 533MHz since the FSB on your T2060 is 533MHz.

    3. No, but the advantages of 667Mhz is dampned by the higher latencies most DDR2 667Mhz memory have. You will only notice the difference in benchmarks, for everday use there isnt any noticable performance benefits over the faster memory.

    4. I have heard that some newer Intel chipsets have this capability but the A135 seems to be equipped with Ati 200m, so you might have to use 2 equal sized(2X1GB, 2X512MB etc) memory sticks.

    5. Not necessary. Buying 2 sticks from the same manufacturer ensures compatibility but in most cases dont need to buy the same brand memory to run dual channel.

    6. You might ant to ask this question in the official CPU-Z forums...

In any case you should be getting good performance with 1.5GB RAM. Dual channel only manages to double your existing bandwidth but the system rarely ever uses the full memory bandwidth. So running single channel memory for general use wont hurt your performace a bit.

I don't believe the toshiba built version XPRESS 200 chipset can run 2 sticks in dual channel mode. I currently have two 1GB DDR2-667 matched in my A135-S2246 and it still shows single in CPU-z.

Hi I have Toshiba satellite A135-s2276 and I just bought some PC2-4200 memory produced by I.O Data (SDX533-1Gx2)
It's 1GB X2 for a total of 2GB and sold specially for dual channel. I ran CPU-Z and it told me that I have DDR2 and 2048mb but Single channel. Anybody get dual channel on this computer? What could be wrong?

The Xpress200 is the problem not your memory configuration. Those who answered yes in question #1, show me the proof.

From what scarce information there is on the XPress200m for Intel Processors, it does indeed support dual channel memory. But remember, Toshiba could have, for some unkown reason, designed the motherboard to only support single channel memory.
