Anyone find these A200 gets really hot around the touch pad? The fan runs pretty quiet but the touch pad and palm rest gets really warm.

Have I got a dud or is this common?

Yeah thats it, guess it will be great in the winter months, now just to change the hard drive. No idea why these hitachi hard drives rate so highly, there so noisey

I'm not sure hitachi makes much noise, but surely it is faster than 4200's toshiba own HD.

Maybe mines on the way out but then again I've only had it 5days.

It makes a terrible ticking sound everytime it reads or writes to the drive, not overly loud as if the drive is going to die but definately audible at night when its quiet. Someone recommended a samsung drive so I might give that a try.

Can't find myself recommending a Samsung hard drive - I'm sure they have improved but in the past they were total trash.

Try Western Digital, that's the only drive I buy. They are better built than other makes and extremely quiet/cool-running. I have an 80GB 5400RPM 2.5" drive in an external enclosure that I had in my old laptop which works wonderfully, and dual 320GB 7200RPM 3.5" drives in my desktop. Awesome stuff.
