Has anyone tried to load XP on the Toshiba Sat A200-244 (PSAE6E)? I need to know if this is possible before making the purchase decision as I want to be able to load XP.

The XP drivers are listed on the Toshiba site, but I can't work out if it is all of them, or if there is always that one thingimy that doesn't work. Don't see the DVD player or the HDD drivers there.

    Hope you can help.

I'll move this to the Toshiba forum for you, you may get more responses there.

    Thank you! Sorry about that.

I was also wondering if anyone may have tried to downgrade the Toshiba Sat Pro A200GE-26Q (PSAE7E). Like with the one mentioned above, this has XP drivers listed, but I don't see one for the DVD player or for the HDD.

Also looking at the Satellite P200D-128 (PSPBQE), but this one has NO XP drivers listed on their site at all. Does that mean it is a no-go?

You should be able to find all of the drivers of it. There are no drivers needed for the hdd or dvd player. What you will need is the chipset/videocard driver from Intel.

You can probably find some drivers for the P200 as it is very similar to the A200 other than that it has a different chassis and a 17 inch sceen.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen on various forums that many people are struggling to downgrade to XP. Are they not doing it right or are there a lot of problems? I really don't want to end up with a machine I can't put XP on. I have some software that won't run on Vista and I can't afford to upgrade right now.

Once you get Xp up and running, its just the matter of install all the drivers.

Thank you. I have basically decided to go for the A200GE-26Q as it has a much better spec. Again, most of the XP drivers seem to be on Toshiba's website, so hoping it will be ok.

Does anyone know if this machine gets very hot?

Still not sure I really understand this - I thought that every component in the machine needs a driver. So how can the HDD and DVD work without them?

I'm no expert, but I think there are generic drivers to make them work thats already incorporated into Xp

Thanks Allan. The supermulti drives are quite new though. Hope you are right!
