Hey guys, I'm aiming at a used Toshiba Satellite. I'm not a "power gamer" but I'd like to play some games on it. I'd like to know if anyone out there has this model, and if it's VGA Radeon 3470 is downclocked, like ASUS's F5SL. If not it would be great.

Also, what temps does it get?

    Thanks!

Anyone here experienced problems with this model? Heat issues?

    Thanks!

EDIT: also, I'd like to know if refurbished means that the laptop went to some repair, because I don't know the correct meaning of the word. I'm a little afraid that this one is refurbished, as it seems to be under perfect conditions, but the guys bought the laptop at Best Buy, does it sell refurbished notebooks? If it does, they show it at the invoice? How do I know if the notebook went to any repair?

    Thanks a lot!

I bought a A355-6998E and I really like it sans the 16" display. I prefer the 15.4" form factor but the laptop is solid overall.

I had that model for about 1 week, then returned it. It has a hdmi which is great, but the battery was too big and sticks out on the bottom which is bothersome when on the lap. Didn't use it long enough for heat problems.

I wouldn't bother getting the refurb, because you'll never know what happened to it. I would spend bit more and get the A505 series.

I see... I'll think more about it so. Hulkster, did you know if the GPU was underclocked, or was it at the original clocks?

Also, the temperatures were good, or not?

About the battery issue, I'm not bothering so much about it, I'm going to use as a desktop replacement, sometimes using it outside home.

    Thanks for the answers!

EDIT: Would like to know if Best Buy sells refurbished notebooks. I don't think it sells, but if it does, is it mentioned on the invoice?

    Thanks!

I got it at bestbuy brand new at the time late last year and it was original clocked.

The temperature was ok, I didn't notice any intense heat, but it gets warm though just like my qosmio.

Bestbuy never sells refurbs, they either seller brand new sealed or a open item

Nice, my greatest fear was that it could be underclocked. So, just the original clocks, right? That's great.

So, it gets pretty warm, but something that bothers you when using the laptop, or it's not a big deal?

I couldn't understand well the last passage, did you mean that Bestbuy never sells refurbs, but it does sell brand new sealed and opened items?

Thanks and sorry for the confusing post (english is not my native language).

    Yes, its the normal clock.

Every toshiba notebook I had after 2004 would get warm, its not that much of a big deal on the table, but on the lap it can be irritating.

Yes, bestbuy never sells refurb items, and only sell either brand new and opened items (customers returns that work good)
