    Hello fellow Toshiba NBR memebers,

I have a friend who broke her A305 screen. We are thinking of ordering a replacement LCD off of Ebay and I am wondering if all A305's use the same LCD screen. Her screen specs is very standard. (Glossy, WXGA, CCFL)

We're looking at just replacing the LCD, not the entire screen assembly. I know that there are multiple A305 submodels, so would any A305 LCD screen work for this A305-S6858 Special Edition? or would it need a specific part # LCD???

Thanks in advanced for the help.

Hi, I bought 6 or 7 LCD panels from "browngranite" on eBay. They sell top quality screens. You tell them what model number you have and they will get you an exact replacement. About 70.00 including shipping. I think they are in NY or NJ.

I too have replaced a couple of LCD's on Toshibas ordered on eBay and found them to be the right replacements... at $70, great price compared to Toshiba in the $200+ range plus labor. Find the online video for close to your model number and follow the instructions. If you can change spark plugs and oil filter (according to the instructions) you can change the LCD. The only "tricky" part I found was getting the snap-in bezel off of the front... you may think you are going to break it, but it is very tough plastic and seems to resist the force needed to get it off... assuming you removed all of the screws, hidden under rubbery plugs around the bezel. The replacement screen comes with the printed circuit board attached to the back of it. Once you get it plugged in, try booting before putting the bezel and all back on to make sure it is functioning. Remember, where it says to NOT touch the white tape, then don't touch it. The replacement screen looks different on the back from the original, but everything fits, so don't think you got the wrong screen. Also, be careful moving the screen back and forth with the screen disassembled as the resistance of the hinges can "overstress" (break) the mounts. Have fun!

Thanks olamoree for the detailed description and advice. I actually already replaced the screen about a month ago. It was tricky but definitely not impossible...I remember clearly about how though it was to remove the bottom of the screen bezel (I thought Toshiba used a generous amount of super glue there  .)

I have yet to change my own spark plugs and oil filter...my parents spoil me too much.

    Thanks again,
