I just bought a Toshiba A75 so that we would have a mobile workplace for doing bills, and downloading video files from our new video recorder. The guy at the store assured me that the A75 version that we bought had a fire wire port. Well, when we got home it just had a spot on the side for one but no port. I have a few questions I would appreciate if someone could answer.

    1) Can a fire wire port be installed? If so, is it easy and relatively inexpensive?
    2) Is the Toshiba A75 with a P4 3.2GHz and 512 SDRAM better than the M35 version which has a PM 1.8GHz and 512 SDRAM but a firewire port? THe M35 is $50 more but it would be easy to just return it.

    Thanks for any input.

    1) You can buy a PCMCIA firewire card that plugs into the slot on the side of your notebook.
    2) I personally would get the one with the Pentium M CPU. The performace will be similar. You'll get better battery life from a Pentium M CPU and they run much cooler which in the long run will wear better on your notebook. Before you take back your A75, you may want to inquire about the retailers return policy. A lot of places have a 15% restocking fee even if you are exchanging. Good Luck.
