    Hi All,

I'm interested in buying a Toshiba A500 (living in Holland). I'm currently looking at the following model:

    http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/series/Satellite-A500-series/1069914/

It's probably a specific model only targeted at the EU market, but I presume the build quality is roughly the same for the US models.

Could anyone that has a A500 let me know how they feel about how warm the laptop can get? And is the air outtake (it's on the side, right?) is sufficient? I'm asking this because I'm currently returning my Dell Studio XPS 16 to Dell because of the lousy air outtake (screen blocks half of the vent holes), which causes the graphics card to overheat.

If you have an ATI 4650 in your A500 I would love to hear how the laptop is holding it's own with regards to heat.

    Thanks!

I dont currently have any numbers but I ahve that laptop and it is cool to the touch. when I am healing in Wow at this very moment.

And there is nothing blocking the fan. I can feel air moving out of it but there is no noise at the moment.

Thanks for your answer. It's an important issue for me, as I don't want to have the same experience as I had with the Dell SXPS 16. People mentioned that they didn't see the problem, as I could 'easily' purchase a laptop cooler like the Zalman NC2000... But in my opinion a laptop should be easy to use, and I don't want to put a big cooling device on my lap, and on top of that a laptop as well!

I just don't understand companies that put the ventilation holes of a laptop in a place where the air outtake is (partially) blocked. It may look good, but it's really crappy when it comes to cooling.

Any more experiences would be welcome, especially from people with an ATI 4650 in their Toshiba A500.

Yeah. My old Dell would overheat like it was its job. It got so bad that it would turn off the internet itself to keep the system cool. all i had to do was browse the web for this to happen. Nothing has happened like that with my Toshiba so far. :] No burnt laps in the future I hope!

I have this Laptop but mines is with a HD4570 not a HD4650. Its does a very good job at cooling even when gaming its never hot and i can put it on my lap when gaming and i can barely hear the fan in a quiet room and also the laptop looks good you cant go wrong with it

    Hey,

What kind of battery life are you getting? I'm considering getting this laptop with a 4570 as well. Hows the build quality as well?

Could anyone with a Toshiba A500 tell me about the build quality/overall quality of the laptop?
I've been trying to find reviews online but there aren't many that I've found.
