I have a Toshiba Satellite A505D-S6958 and it has the Insyde H20 Bios. Somehow the BIOS password got activated and I no longer can access the computer. I contacted Toshiba and was informed that the whole Motherboard would have to replaced. I have 15 years exp. as a computer technician and this sounds totally rediculous. Toshiba wants $425.00 for the fix and I only spent $350 on the laptop. Does anyone no of a fix for this issue, I have searched the Web and it appears that this laptop BIOS is a real SOB with no backdoor codes and since I cannot boot to a cd or floppy it appears that I am screwed. My advice is to never buy a Toshiba Laptop because they are like Apple computers no one can fix them except a certified repair shop.

How, How exactly does stuff like this happen? Did you loan it to someone or something??

Yes, that's not right. However, it is possible to repair it yourself. What's to stop you from purchasing a motherboard and replacing it yourself?

And this topic probably breaches the forum rules, as discussion of bypassing BIOS passwords and other passwords is forbidden...
