My wife's A660 is a bit noisy, so I went to check out and noticed that there are no holes at the usual fan area. I thought this was common until I decided to rip the laptop apart and sure enough at the area where the blocked vents are there is a fan! Below are two links. The fan is at no 97. I know that most people this is not an issue but this seems like a design fault.

Since I'm not sure if its a design fault or not, I thought I'd ask here.

My toshiba P750 uses the same chassis and even the motherboard is very similar (I checked the park number on my motherboard and when I search that on google it actually comes up as an A665 motherboard).

Anyway with my notebook the vents are not blocked.

I guess if you wanted to you could buy the bottom case from a P750/P755 and swap it out with yours, giving you the holes you want.

By the way, can you tell me if your bios has any overclocking options? Because I'm sure these notebooks could use the same bios.

The bios has no overclocking capability. Is your P750 a newer model to the A660/665? When did you purchase it?

On another note, I manage to kill the touch sensitive buttons at the top of the laptop while trying to pry it open :/

If you want to pry it open, make sure you take every screw out of the back.
Take out the ram. HDD, ODD.
Then the keyboard can come out.
Then 2 screws under the keyboard.

After that the top should be able to separate from the bottom.

I believe the notebooks were released at the same time, pretty much the same notebook, Toshiba just names them differently because they have different specs and may be aimed at different consumers.

I bought mine this year, but Australia get notebooks a bit later than the USA.

I managed to put a screw though the power cord inside while putting it back together one time. The cable had to be soldered back together and taped.

I've taken this thing apart 10+ times now, each time is a PITA.
