Is your laptop hot when this happens, overheating could be causing the problem. Check the sides if air is coming out or if the fan is spinning.

If thats not the problem, check your power settings.

Other than that, I will check the warranty on it and have replaced right away.

    Hope this helps

The A-75 is known to overheat which will cause it to shut down.

Try blowing out the dust bunnies and see if that helps a little. Also you could try having a regular fan blowing on it to cool it down. And maybe a notebook cooling pad would help also.

My A75 has been fixed/cleaned twice for this exact problem! It's very frustrating and is indicative of slapshod thermal engineering.

I've used 8 different notebooks over the past dozen years (IBM's, Dell's, Gateway's, Toshiba's, Sager's) and the A75 is the only one that continuously suffers from overheating. It's now relegated as a backup laptop for occassional use.

My only suggestion is to take your laptop in for a cleaning and have the fans replaced. Some A75 owners have also suggested having the shop apply a high-quality thermal grease like Arctic Silver between the CPU and heatsink to better disperse the heat.

Just fyi- this seems to be a temporary fix as the overheating seems to return within a year. If you've got access to a freezer, try using a few chillpaks (chillpak.com) and that will help to manage the heat.

Hey, I am having the same problem. It is shutting off out of the blue and it doesnt matter if I use many applications at the same time or just checking the email.

Does anybody have the same issues with this laptop model? I was trying to solve this problem, but found nobody that can tell me whats wrong.

It is very possible that the motherboard on this model is not the best-as I heard among other users, but it doeasnt mean that it can turn off whenever it wants to:/

    Help us!

When it gets too hot, it will turn off (whenever it wants to) to prevent damage to the motherboard and other components.

As blondie stated, heat is the culprit behind the random shut downs you're suffering from. I would suggest the use of a cooling pad and checking/cleaning out your system's air vents regularly.
