    Hi all.
I found Best Buy and Office Depot have a Toshiba A75-S2112 on sale for $1099 after rebates.
    Pentium 4 / 512MB / 60Gig HD / Tru-Brite Display
I have found some bad reports about some of the older A75's.
Does anyone have any input on this machine?

I just got one from best buy last night. I'm going to up the memory to 1GB today. They were running a $300 rebate so I got the laptop for $949 after rebate. I got the service plane for $250 just in case there are troubles. Haven't found any reviews about this particular model except for the older ones like you said. We'll see. I think I will look into getting a cooling pad as the older models seem to run hot. Since it's a P4, that would be expected. Good luck. Post back what you find.

    Regards

Wow, that's a really great price. Does it have the exact same specs as the one I listed? I think I was at Best Buy on Monday the 18th and found the $1099 price after rebates.

Yes. Same specs. I got it up and going tonight. I added an additional 512MB. The guy at BBuy said that I had to bring it in for them to install to maintain the protection plan. After I got there, another guy said that it didn't void the plan and I would save $30 if I did it myself... No problem yet. I spent about an hour removing all of the un-needed OEM software and trial software (Office, Norton, etc.) So far so good. I have two user profiles. I did buy a notepad cooler that sits underneath the laptop. From reading, I'm trying to keep it as cool as possible. The screen is really nice. I haven't tried the DVD/CD drive or networking. I'll get around to that this weekend as I rebuff the home network with new router and wireless access point. Good luck. If I run into anything, I'll post back here. Keeping my fingers crossed all goes well.

Wow, you must have lucked out on that price. I checked all the Best Buys and everyone is at $1099 after rebates. $949 makes me want to take a try at it.
I had a Toshiba Satellite about 4 years ago and when it needed serviced, Toshiba was outstanding and FAST. They sent me a box and it went out that day, was there the following, and back to me the next. Mine took a tumble and needed the hard drive replaced and they even did it under warranty.

Well, as I went out in search of that price today, I ran across an M-45 with a Pentium M at office depot for $1099 after rebate and took the plunge. We'll see how it works out. Thanks for all your help here!
