Hi,
I have a Toshiba C850D-125 laptop and it's BIOS is probably corrupted. It's a long story, please bare with me.
If I turned it on without RAM he beeps the error code but even with RAM he doesn't boot image. After this I replaced BIOS chip with the spare one I had and tadaaa!! It worked! For a couple of minutes..I entered BIOS, adjusted time and rebooted, and it froze. It wasn't turning on anymore.. Soldered back first BIOS chip again and laptop turns on again, RAM error, etc..
That said, I took both chips to a friend to reprogram, thought it was solved, but it's not, now laptop powers on, I even get battery charging LED, but still have a black screen and no beep errors.. I'm on the fence if the problem is chips badly programmed or hardware.
Considering I don't have a programmer on me, and can't access my friend for a while, my best option is a crisis recovery. Another part of the problem is that I don't have a laptop with XP on it to properly run Wincrisis to format a USB flash drive..
Can you guys help me prepare a BIOS recovery for this laptop in a Windows 7 environment?
Thanks!

Insyde bios so you wont be recovering it using the phoenix recovery method. All you can try is extract DRABX862.fd from the bios flash rename it to BIOS.f? and then try to flash it from a usb formatted FAT using the FN+ESC or Winkey+B recovery method
-
Question, should I see any signs of flashing? Beeps, lights blinking, pen activity light blinking, etc?
Thanks.

Hi can't rename file to BIOS.f?, it doesn't allow question marks..
-
it usually beeps - try bios.fd and bios.f
You may have to accept however that the machine has a motherboard issue if this procedure doesnt cure it. -
The big problem is it doesn't even go search the pen.. no activity there.
Thanks. -
From experience with Insyde Bios's before they need to be flashed using a very small usb (less than 128mb)
-
Oh crap! The smallest I have is 2gb.. Where am I going to find such a small pen?..

Do you think it could work cleaning partition table and create a 64mb partition leaving the rest raw?
Didn't worked..

I really don't know where you can get one I just know from experience it refused to read the bigger usb's i tried on the last one I recovered!

I'll try to find a smaller usb stick..
Thanks again.

Hello again,
I'm starting to suspect either the problem is not BIOS or I'm missing some special trick to write this BIOS..
I noticed I have 2 BIOS available for my laptop, Win 7 and 8, So I took both chips to reprogram and still no boot in both.
I'm lost. Any tips, miracles or magic tricks for me?
Thanks.
