Hello all. For cyber monday I decided to order a Toshiba Qosmio x505-Q896. I made the mistake of ordering this from Toshibadirect.com. I have been getting a ton of runaround and no help from the terrible customer service. I did get a really great deal and extra freebies. But am second guessing my purchase. So my question to you fellow forum users is, have any of you purchased from Toshibadirect.com? And if so, how did the purchase /customer service work out for you? I am now looking at 10 days before they get my laptop in stock (not a custom order) when I was told it would be in stock and shipped in 24-48 hours.

I haven't even gotten my tracking number to recieve the laptop. I would cancel the order but I got a great deal on it. $1,399.99 for the laptop with an additional external 500gb hard drive and gaming backpack (one of the few that fits an 18.4" laptop) with shipping included free. This is way lower than Newegg could sell it for. But I am not confident the rest of the purchasing experience will go so well. Just wanted to get a consensus from the community on their experiences with Toshibadirect.com

Let me just suggest that you take a deep breath and calm down for a second and think about this, Matt. The deal you got on this lappy is so phenomenally good that, to be honest, Toshiba may have gotten a ton more orders than their manufacturer could keep up with, and I am going to guess that this is largely because of the sale they had. Now if I were you, I would seriously consider just waiting this one out, BUT talking to customer service. Tell them you are unhappy with the runaround you have received and are considering cancelling your order because they renegged on their promise of a timely delivery. Then ask what they would be willing to do for you. They may give you some more free stuff to avoid the paperwork of you cancelling your order. Hey, it's worth a shot.

Matt, I also ordered the x505 q892 on Saturday. I clicked the UPS 2 day shipping because I couldn't find the free shipping option, so after placing the order I called toshibadirect and spoke to a representative about the free shipping for any purchase over $499, after looking over my order the rep was kind enough to deduct the cost of the UPS 2 day shipping, so I asked him before we hung up, because I wanted to be sure that I got it on Mon, which would have made 2 days, he then told me that it was the weekend and that the department that handled the processing would send it out on Monday and I then I could expect to get a tracking number and receive it by Wednesday.

Monday comes and I check my email, no tracking number. I call toshiba again, and a woman rep answers and tells me that there needed to be a verification process before they shipped out the product and it'll take another 2 days till it leaves the warehouse, then I can expect to receive a tracking number. Well it's now Wednesday 11:14pm here in Hawaii, I just checked my email before coming to this site and YAYEE! TRACKING NUMBER, checked arrival and it should be here on Friday, but I'll be at work and no one will be home to meet the UPS guy. :(

Anyway, yeah I think they got swamped with the weekend sales and I hope and pray they don't give me a lemon. I think it was my fault also for posting on this forum and other forums even facebook that Toshiba had that X505 sale with free portable HD and xtra $100 off with the Gaming100 coupon code.

I also had the 2 day verification process, ordered on monday when they had it in stock (only 52 units). But on wed after 48 hours still not verified. Had to call the verification dept in India. Took 30 seconds to debit my checking account. I was told I would have my tracking numbers in a couple of minutes. 7 hours later called again that is when they said they were out of stock (64 total people ordered). I guess the verification process took too long and I lost my spot for one of the in stock units. Was told "just deal with it" from the rep. And it would take a week to get a refund. To top it all off Newegg.com now has them on sale $1,399.99 in stock 2 day shipping. I really need the lappy for work and now have to wait almost 2 weeks to get it. I love their products, just not the bad luck I have been recieving this last couple of weeks.

And I also used the gaming100 code for an addl $100 off and got the ext hd too. It was a great deal!!

I had the 2 day verification process as well... Bottom line, it's there to protect you the consumer. In the greater scheme of thinks it's no big deal...

I am glad they have the forethought to try to thwart fraud, that wasn't my major gripe. The poor help and rude people on the other end of the phone was my issue, as was the "in stock , Rapid ship status". I guess I just felt that when someone spends that large of an amount of money the seller should be more helpful. I need to remind myself I am paying for the product not the service. But at the end of the day when it all matters, the squeaky wheel got greased. They miraculously found a lappy that they "did not have in stock". I finally have my tracking number and will see it the first of the week. I will be happy to post answers as to all the questions about screen quality/brightness in the 1080p monitor. As soon as I get it fired up of course. Cheers.
