I'm just curious to find out how good Toshiba's are, compared to say, IBMs. I'm looking into getting an IBM no doubt, but I'd like to be flexible in case I can't get one. My mom's had a Toshiba for several years, its an older one, and the only flaw in it is the plastic hinge covers are cracked. Other than that, the screen is still tight, the system is fine, and despite it being a lesser model, it's handled a hell of alot better than my Dell Smartstep 200n. Whereas the screen has a wobble in it, and I've had to replace the harddrive like 3 months after my 1-year warrenty expired. And oddly enough the stupid rubber pads underneath have worn off and only two remain with some help of ducktape lol. This is the first Dell I've had, and I know I can't always go buy just having one machine, but between the pricing, the bad tech support, and now the build of the machine, I'm not impressed at all.
I know getting any computer has some sort of risk, but I'd like to be wise about these things as possible. I heard though that one good thing about Toshiba is they got durable screens for their laptops. I was wondering if this was true and if there are any known good or bad qualities of these particular brand. Any insight or testimonials would be appreciated, thanks![]()

If you want top quality look at IBM, Fujitsu or HP Business Class like nc6000. I've heard hit and miss on Toshiba. Some people really like them others were not as enthusiastic. IBMs service and support are second to none. Fujitsu and HP business class are very good as well. Good Luck.
I know things, things that could get me killed -
I would go with the IBM, but when I got my Toshiba M100, IBMs were a bit pricey. Toshiba's were second on my list. The Toshiba I have right now hasn't let me down yet.
