Hi there and thanks for viewing my post!

My wife has had her Toshiba Dynabook now for over a year (of course, just a little past the warranty) and it's started having hiccups.

A month or so ago, the display started flickering black, in patches the full length of the screen (covering about a third or whatever). A few days later, the flickering was very consistent and hard to see the screen. Now the screen is completely black.

Plugging the computer into the television works fine but now there's no response from the netbook display what-so-ever.

It's not a backlight problem because there was light coming from the back of the screen but after playing with it yesterday and failing miserably, I've somehow stopped the backlight working now too. Could it be that the cables are really weak and a lose connection progressed into a dead connection? I don't want to do anything too frivolous with it seen as it was only a cheap netbook...

    Any advice would really help

Oh, one other thing, when I try to make the netbook's display hold a resolution of 1280 x 768 (and possibly others), for some reason the mouse sometimes freezes, maybe an OS problem?

    Many thanks!
    Richard

Coincidentally, a friend of mine has a similar problem with a Samsung netbook that is just over one year old. He says that he has had the connectors checked by someone but, at one stage, pressing on one of the hinges would affect the display.

I have to wonder whether in his case the cable between mainboard and display is the problem and, once you have checked the connections at each end, also your problem.
