Hi all,
i'm a newbie and couldn't find what i was after so hence am starting a new thread.
I'm from Australia and the ideal laptop from the portege series isn't available here however i have found it from the USA.
After ringing toshiba Australia in which they couldn't give me an answer i am now here.
My question is, If i buy a toshiba from USA does the international warranty cover it in Australia, even though that particular model won't be released here?
Toshiba Australia told me to ring Toshiba USA and see what they say.
After being on hold for over 15mins i gave up trying to ring USA.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure, but if you need to chat online with a US sales rep, you can go to ToshibaDirect, and during US business hours you can get an online chat rep to help you. [live chat feature]

Take this with a grain of salt, as I might be wrong, but I researched this more than a year ago and my understanding is that the international warranty only applies if your laptop is sold in the country where it needs to be fixed. If the laptop is not sold there, they might lack the necessary parts and in that case they won't honor the warranty.
Since Porteges are sold both in USA and Australia, you should be fine as long as the Portege you buy doesn't use components not found in their Australian counterparts.
Good luck.
