Hello , My name is Jan Elze

My Toshiba has a stange problem when running on the battery there's no problem , but when the adapter is connected, the laptop reboots and keeps rebooting .
but when I boot up in windows safe mode it runs fine even when the adapter is connected .
also when I boot up Lindows CD there's no problem .

    The CPU is not overheating
the adapter is replaced and checked
    I changed the Harddrive
I even changed the OS from Windows 7 64bit to windows 7 32 bit version .
also the windows vista gives the same problems ...

also in the windows safe mode with network the laptop gives no problems
only when windows is running normal then when I plug in the adapter the laptop shutdown and reboots

Is there someone who knows this problem ?? I dont know any solutions anymore ...Please Help !!

Not sure how to help, but one thing worth checking is to make sure your fans/vents are clean of any accumulated dust [use compressed air with short bursts]. Accumulated dust could cause thermal shutdowns [your laptop turning off from overheating]. Checking your temperatures can also verify whether to cooling system is functioning properly [can use the free programs called HWinfo or HWmonitor].

Your laptop may not have the problem while on battery because when your laptop is plugged into an outlet, it would switch power plans from battery[power saving] to outlet[maximum performance]; thus if the cooling system was compromised, it would leading to overheating and a forced shutdown.

Good luck and keep us updated with any results.

Thnx for the reply , but The airvents are totaly clean , that was the first thing I checked .. the CPU and the chipset does'nt exeed the 50 C

I even put all the functions in the power manager the same in Battery and net-power ..? I start to think that it must be a failure on the MB ....
    maybe a capacitor...or something ????

    I replased the capacitor ,
    I replased with 6 x 150 uF
in the satalite 305-107 laptop its the NEC/TOKIN 0E907 (900uF/2.5V)
but you need to look inside under the proccessor on the backside off the mother-board
    becuase some Toshiba's used Nek/Tokin 0E128 (1200 uF / 2,5V )
to try if its the capacitor you can diconect the proccesor in windows-safe-mode and the restart in normal windows .
if windows is started then you can plug in the adapter . if the laptop keeps running it is most likely the capacitor ..

    Greetings

I have the same problem with Toshiba L355-S7812. Do you think the same capacitor will work for me and where could I get one.

you need to look inside the laptop because there are several different capacitors used in the laptops .
and for replaceable parts you can buy them on ebay , or you can replace them with other capacitors and make sure you get the
micro-farad correct, the voltage is not so important , if you keep the capacitors over the 2,5 volt ..
