hi
it's time for me to buy a laptop for my girlfriend
she'll use it for surfing, watching movies, using the MSoffice and occasional photoshop..
i think its a better idea to take one with the integrated graphics, since she's not a power user and it gives more battery lifetime
i found one of these for a reasonable price
[t6500 proc, 2gb ram, mhd4500, 250gb hdd, 2yrs warranty]
i was wondering if anyone of you could help me with some info about the build quality of toshiba l500
on toshibas of this rank i found that keyboard was quite flexible :/ is that so on this one too?
and how about the touchpad?
and overall, is "the case" firm enough, does it flex under pressure, how's the battery life, does it heat alot, how's the screen?
i know there's a lot of questions here (and my english is not so good, sorry for that), but any info on this would be more than useful
thank you, bye

hey there I just recently purchased a toshiba s505-6886 or whatever it is the model with a 16" screen, intel t6600 cpu and a nvidia gt230m gpu.
I never saw or thought I would be buying a toshiba ever in my lifetime but im high impressed with this model and ive been through about 10 different brands/models. The only issue with this toshiba laptop is yes on my the keyboard flexes like there is no support holding it up behind the left side where shift and caps key is and so forth, annoying but nothing major. One other thing the webcam sucks crap. with every setting maxed out its still dim as heck.
Mine came with a samsung panel which is the best lcd panel u can get in a laptop. and its crisp and bright and colorful. the system overall runs cool with fan quietly coming on and off when needed and when system is playing games the fan is on all the time but not that protrusive in noise. the temps are pretty good overall idle or load. the awesome speakers harmon kardon sound GREAT! better than HP branded laptop crap. they do have some mini punch or bass but some of the better toshiba laptops also come with a subwoofer which would really make the laptop speakers sound good.
my two cons: keyboard flex
webcam
rest of system is kick and it doesnt get scorching hot when you actually use it as a computer system that can handle games and cpu intensive apps!
FYI: if you get this in time and you have the cash i recommending getting this model its at office depot in the states 799.00 discounted 100.00 buxs making it 699.99 plus tax right now up until oct 31st 2009, stores usally have one or two at the most so call ahead! -
its not nearly the same model, but thanks for the impression
i guess keyboard flex is a flaw on pretty much all toshibas :/ -
Hi¸
i have the Toshiba L500,its a pretty good laptop
The good thing :
the TouchPad is good

3GB Memory ( Windows Say 4 GB but Toshiba Website say 3 :O )
Wi-Fi b. g. n.
Webcam and Microphone integrated
Windows 7
The ventilation is pretty good
VGA plug ( to plug external monitor )
Num Pad
Multi Card Reader
The bad thing :
Speakers...SUCK !! They have a metallic sound
Only 2 USB Ports
Webcam quality is bad
battery life is short
and yes the keyboard is flexible and noisy if you press hardly
but for watching video and text whriting/image editing its enought
i think its a good choice, but not the best
