    Hey Guyz.
I have a Toshiba Laptop which is of the Satelitte series. Its quite old, as I got it in around 2001-2002. It's a Windows XP Home Laptop.
I've had quite a few problems with it, viruses, etc. However, After the recent virus removal, tha laptoop worked fine up till now.
Now the problem is that the laptop turns on fine, everything is going normal and when I play a game like Counter Strike after say 10-15 minutes, the laptop completely tunrs off! When I start it again, it starts normally, no errors shown. I need to know what the problem is!
Any help, tips, advice and recommendations are welcome and much appriciated!
    Thanks a bunch! :D

    If I were you...

I would first re-install Windows. Viruses are like ticks. They clamps into your computer with several legs. Virus removal software is generally able to remove the ticks main body, but not all the legs.

I suggest everyone re-installs Windows after getting a virus.

If the problem doesn't return, then success! If it does return however, it is more likely a hardware problem or a problem with the game your playing.

    >If it is a hardware problem, it is most likely that it is overheating. Feel your laptop after it shuts down. Is it hotter than normal? Maybe smells like burning plastic just a bit? If that seems to be the case, consider buying a cooling pad.

    >Check the games website. See if it is due to some sort of software configuration error.

Hey Greg.....thanks for the advice and recommendations.....but
I have already re-installed windows, cause that was the only way to get rid of THIS type of virus!

    And.....

No it doesnt smell like burnig plastic, and I dont think its overheating more than usual.

And, no its not a problem with a game im playing cause I've been playing it on this very laptop for like 8 months before AND after the virus came.

Another piece of info for you maybe that I only have 1 GB on my hard drive of free space.

However, I just cleared it up and now I have 12 GB free, but it still happened, after like 40 mins this time, though.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

So clearing hard drive space made it last longer before shutting down? That is interesting... I wouldn't have expected it to have any affect...

If you have freshly installed Windows, than I suppose it is unlikely to be a software issue. I also doubt it is related to needing a BIOS update like the OP suggested, but it is worth checking out! :)

Here is the Toshiba download site:

    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

Select you model number and see if there are any BIOS updates. On the site with the BIOS download it generally lists the updates in the newer version. I wouldn't recommend updating unless the listed BIOS udates specifically address this problem... If the computer were to randomly power down during a BIOS flash the computer could become unusable.

    What model Satellie is it?

I had the same problem. It was an overheating issue, but not that I could tell. The laptop shuts off before overheating becomes a problem. Here one of my fans died.
