I bought the M30 1.5- TOSHIBA laptop a week ago. I'm having problems with it. It gets way too hot. After an hour of use it gets pretty hot. I don't think that is normal for a laptop. It shouldn't get this hot only after an hour. It has gotten so bad that my hands are starting to get irritated by it. I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing the same things as i am? I need to know within 2 days as it must be returned by then or else i have to keep it. Thanks for your help. Please respond back to this post. Thanks!

Hi !
My M30-842 (1.6GHz) had the same problems. Seems to be a cooling prob anyway. I´ve returned the Notebook to my dealer and he exchanged it!

Did you get a whole new product? or did u get the same M30 again?

There was a user here in the Toshiba forum that posted that you should prop up the back of the unit approx 0.5-1" so that there's better airflow. You could also buy a notebook cooler. It's a small plate like device the notebook sits on, & it has fans on it that blows on the underside of the notebook. If propping up the notebook is the easy solution, you could just buy small rubber feet and put it on the corners of the unit. They're cheap and will keep the unit raised in the back. Plus it pust the keyboard in a better typing position as well.

Is this a hardware problem? I have the toshiba M35-S456 and it gets hot too. It also have the same "problem" with the fan as one other guy described in this forum. Actually it works often and it is annoying. What can i do about the fan? Is this a defect?

Hi, i took mine back to the dealer yesterday and exchanged it for another one. It appears it may be a defect in most M30'S or a design issue. My fan was never coming on in the old one i had, but i got a new one yesterday.. and the fan came on for 5 seconds while I had it on today. I have no idea what is going on with these computers.. does anyone else have any information with regards to this heating problem?

Regarding the fan not turning on, you may want to check the BIOS to see if there's anything in there to turn the fan on continuously. My old Toshiba 4300 series unit has this option in the BIOS to always have the fan on while connected to AC.

Venombite, Thanks for your advice. Sounds like an idea, but i do not know how to do the procedure and I don't know what a BIOS is. I know i probably sound like a rookie, but i do not know a whole lot with regards to computers. Could you be a little more specific for my understanding. Thanks a lot. I appreciate your help.
