    Hi,

I have a laptop here (Toshiba M100) from a friend who it's backlight seems broken (The lcd works, vga ouput too). I thought it was the inverter but I think it's not finally:

When I boot the laptop, during the post process, the backlight come on for 2-3 seconds then turns back off forever. I guess the problem is with the lid close switch since the inverter seems to work.

I can't find the lid close switch at all, even with the bezel off. Anyone can help me find this switch??

    Thanks!

Make sure you haven't inadvertently set the display output to external. Find the Fn and F5 keys and hold them down simultaneously once. If the display doesn't come back on, then press the 2 buttons again to restore it to its previous state.

    Hi,

I have the same laptop, but different problems.
Anyway, the switch you are looking for is a magnetic one. It's located on the upper left border inside the lid, easy to find with something magnetic.

    good luck
