    Hi,

I'm thinking about purchasing this notebook with the Pentium M platform. I read a review on http://www.rojakpot.com about the left palmrest and touchpad getting hot.

This review is older, so I am wondering if maybe this problem is fixed in the newer models. I appreciate any feedback on this since I am planning on purchasing soon.

Any pros and cons of this model laptop appreciated as well.

    Thanks,
    Sam

I am using a m30x w/pentium m 1.6 processor. Ambient temperature here is 29 degrees Celsius. I have not come across the palmrest getting hot. This one was purchased December '05, so I guess the problem has been sorted on the later models.

Zand, I was initally thinking about purchasing a M30X when I first started looking for a laptop also. But soon after, they removed it from ToshibaDirect so I didn't have the option. Some of the cheaper series of Satellites have sub-par build quality. Namely the A and L series and this may extend to the M30X series also, but I am not for sure on that. The M40 and up series, seem to have better build quality and I think that it may be a decent laptop. If you fill out the FAQ at the top of the hardware thread, you will get many suggestions for a notebook that will fit your needs.

Yes - the entire M30X/M35X line up has suffered greatly due to sub-par build quality. I bought an M35X from costco, but returned it due to the poor build quality. Toshiba seems to have had better build quality in the M40 and up, although I would argue that the P30/P35 line has had some major issues as well.
