    My Toshiba M35X -S161 play some DVD others not , what is wrong?

    This laptop's optical only has CD-RW/DVD-ROM.It seems that it doesn't support DVD+R or DVD-RW.What reads on the DVD (if it's not printed).

    ALL of the M35X's have ATLEAST a Combo drive which means its a CD-RW/DVD-ROM. Most of them have a DVD-+RW drive.

    Try booting from the Toshiba restore DVD. If it boots from that then it can read DVD's and its just a software issue.

    It does not read the toshiba DVD, it does read some movie dvds... any idea how can I reboot or restore the DVD in this case?

    sounds like the DVD drive is bad then. If it cant boot from the restore DVD that means its not a software issue.

    You can purchase a new drive online or if your laptop is still under warranty you can send it in to toshiba.
