I just inherited a Toshiba M35X-S311 that does not startup. Previous owner had a loose power adapter connector that they removed and replaced with two wires that go external to the laptop and connect to the adapter. When the power switch is turned on, the laptop fan turns on for a few seconds and then everything stops. This problem started after they did the lousy repair job. Any ideas on how to debug this would be appreciated. I have disassembled and reassembled a couple of times, hoping that they improperly reassembled the unit, but no change. I also have tried booting from the cdrom but that does not even spin. The hard drive does not spin either. I assume it is in the early stages of the boot process before the disk drive or cdrom is activated. I have tried getting into BIOS but that does not work either. Help.

Does any one know what their "remidy" was for the ESD? I have two M35x's that will not boot up. One died about a year ago the other died a few days ago.

    Statisticly low my butt!
