Okay, this has bothered me for a while. Has anyone else with this laptop M40 or M45 has noticed how flexible the whole laptop is. I mean, I can twist it by holding both sides and the whole thing just flexes like if it was some cheap plastic. It's the first notebook that I notice this, isn't it a little stupid form Toshiba? Or am I too picky?

    You may have a point.
I was considering the HP 4040 or this one.
I had an IBM and a Toshiba about 5 years ago, and both were much more solid than this one.
If IBM would have these nice screens, I probably would have went that route. But I really loved the screen.
    And speaking of screens.........
Did you look at yours with the unit turned off when you recieved it?
My first was factory sealed and had 2 large scratches on it.
This is my second factory sealed box and it has a couple minor scatches, but only noticeable when the machine is off and at certain angles.

ive noticed that its pretty flexible....but since my laptop is always at home its not really an issue, but really a quality issue for toshiba. at the shops when i was playing around with the toshibas, i noticed that the lcd screen ripples a lot when the casing is pressed, and the keyboard - if u push really hard (but when do u do that?), the surrounding keys also slightly get pushed in

if i was carrying my laptop around i think i would have purchased an IBM as their laptops seem the sturdiness.

i was debating getting this from futureshop..
and then i asked to take it out of the security thing they have.

I thought i could of snapped the laptop in half.
and the flex behind the screen pissed me off royally i was like how cheap..

    so
i ended up getting the hpdv4040 since i am not a gamer and i already have an acer 8104 at home i didn't care.
but the hp dv4040 is great so far..

About scratches from factory sealed boxes, my first unit (which had a defective graphic card) had a minor scratch in one corner of the screen. It seems to happen. My second one is ok.

And about the screen ripples, yes, it seems common nowadays. Manufacturers don't seem to use strong enough materials for the LCD protective cover. It pretty much stinks if you want my opinion. They should be more careful, it makes you afraid of carrying the laptop around.
