Hey it looks like you got a pretty good buy. I was looking at the M40 for a while also until I bought the M60, which just arrived last night and man is that think friggin huge!. Not weight wise, it's actually lighter than it looks, but the screen is massive and I love it. The M40 is the little brother to the M60 with the 17" screen instead of the 15.4". In the end Toshiba had a great deal on the M60, 20% off, so I customized that. But if you don't need/want a huge screen, the M40 would be the perfect alternative I think. My laptop is on the higher end which put me at $1644 with tax. Hope that M40 works good for you!

Thanks for your reply matt the only thing that concerns me is that graphics card its a 128Mb Intel 915GM Express graphics hopefully that will be able to cope with game playing Im i right in believing the M60 has a ATI RADEON althought gaming is not the most important thing to me as i'll be using it for surfing the web watching dvd and business applications

yes, the m60s can be customized with the ATI card when ordering online but in my case, it had the Nvidia card when i bought it from a store.

BTW matt...what colour lid did you get?? i have the grey colour because that was the only one available...although i prefer the copper colour. too bad.

Mine has the standard peacock blue lid on it, which is great cause I like blue anyway. I just ordered a Targus Platinum Deluxe notebook from ebuyer.com today it was $44 (but I had the last one and now it went up to like $57 plus shipping, that's nuts!) with shipping and it will fit a 17" laptop, but I think it has a sizer inside that velcros to fit a smaller laptop so it doesn't slide around. That is what the Targus case that I have for my IBM Thinkpad T42 has anyway. You can do a search for the cheapest price but I know that you can get it thru newegg.com for $50 shipped. Take care!
