In the course of my work, I have come into an abandoned/lost M45. On power-up the machine displays what I take to be a BIOS-level password request. At the suggestion of my IT guy, I would like to remove the CMOS battery in an attempt to clear this password.
A) Is this even a worthwhile thing to do?
B) If it is, where is this battery located?
C) If not, do you have any suggestions for how to go about this?
Thank you.

Yes
Most likely buried pretty deep inside, I've seen Dells that have it accessible without taking it apart, but this isn't a Dell... -
Eh I believe there are stock backdoor bios passwords? I think you can just look up the manufacturer of ure bios and find their password

If you want to disassemble it, this may help. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM45/Satellite_M45_disassembly_1.htm
I can't find any reference to the CMOS battery anywhere here and Toshiba doesn't release information like that to "consumers" per their help line. -
I have the Toshiba Satellite M45-S355. I completely dismantled the laptop and want to pinpoint the location of the CMOS (RTC) battery, because it is not indicated clearly on the photos. I am attempting to remove the battery temporarily to reset the "Bios Password." Please render as much assistance as possible, this is really racking my brain trying to locate the battery. I see a watch type battery located on the bottom left side of the motherboard that could possibly be it. However, it seems as though its soldered in or something?!

Yes, that's what it looks like, a watch battery. It shouldn't be soldered in though.
