Hi Guys
Im considering buying a laptop for about $1,000.00 and have narrowed down on two:
Acer Aspire AS5002WLMi
AMD Turion ML-30, 512MB memory,80GB (4200RPM) HD, DVD+/- Dual, 15.4WXGA, Wi-FI
Toshiba M50X-MX2,
Intel Celeron M370-1.5GHz, 512MB memory,60GB(5400RPM) HD, DVD+/- Dual, 14WXGA. Wi-Fi,
Which one is better for in the long run? What processor is better?
Reliability? Hardware quality?
Your input is much appreciated.

Go with the Acer. The Turion processor is WAY better than the Celeron by a long shot. Plus, the Turion will last you a good deal longer as it is a 64-bit processor, unlike the Celeron, which is only 32-bit.

Futureshop in Canada has a $100 promotion for Toshiba M50-MX2 on this week's flyer. 512MB DDR2, 60GB 5400rpm HDD, Dual Layer Multi format DVD+/-RW 5X DVD-RAM, ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M graphics, Wireless b/g.
$899.99 Canadian, sounds a great deal to me. It might even be o/c to 2.0gHz Celeron M with pinmod. -
Thank you SAM1. I will check it out.

It true that the acer will have more performance than the toshiba, for the processor, but if you re looking for a well constructed laptop with nice finish, go for the toshiba, and i recommend you to upgrade you processor for a little more to a pentium m, the 2 MB of cache will be nice when you work in battery mode with the processor at low frequencies, i really think that intel is a step forward in terms of mobile computing.
I hope you find this useful -
Where are you? at toshiba.com a satellite with PM 740, 512 RAM, Wireless Intel costs around 1100.
