    Hey everyone,

I recently bought a Toshiba M55-S3292 from Office Depot. I'll spare you the specs on the machine because it really doesn't apply to this thread. I only get about 3 hours and 15 minutes on the 6 cell battery it came with and that's really not doing it because I really don't want to have to lug around the AC adapter and cables. So, I was thinking of getting a more powerful battery and on Toshiba's website they only have the 6 cell and a 12 cell.

This is what the site says about the 12 cell battery:
Toshiba Primary 12-Cell Li-Ion High Capacity Battery Pack
Provides up to 5 hours computing time
    Part Number: PA3400U-1BRS
This Toshiba Primary High Capacity Battery Pack is a 12-cell, rechargeable, removable, Lithium Ion battery designed to work with Toshiba Satellite M40 (except M40-S312TD), M45 (except M45-S165, M45-S165X, M45-S169 & M45-S1691), M50, M55 (except M55-S139 & M55-S139X), Tecra A3, A4, A5, and S2 series portable computers. This battery provides up to 5 hours* computing time.

They have it after savings now for $145.

So, has anyone bought this battery or has changed the battery on their Satellite M55? I'm assuming this would make the laptop heavier naturally, but would it make it like uneven and not balanced? What advice would you give me about trying to purchase a more powerful battery and the good or bad things about doing this?

    Thanks!!
    ~MSG

Yes, it will be heavier, twice the weight of the 6-cell. I don't know about this on specifically, but it probably bulges out the back. You could also consider getting a second 6-cell.

Yes - the 12-cell battery does bugle out of the back on the M55, but not on the M45. Another 6-cell battery suggested Brian would provide an alernative to this option.

    Hey guys,

Thanks so much for your responses.

See thing is, I don't really want to walk around having to hold something else or carry something else besides the laptop, as in an AC adapter or an extra 6 cell battery.

This is because I was looking to get a sleeve to keep the computer in so I can slide it into my knapsack.

Then again, now I'm thinking maybe I'm better off with buying a knapsack with a built-in space for the laptop.

What do you guys think I'm better off doing?
