I tried every variation of spelling the password but no luck. any possibly soultions of avoiding sending it to the dealer to fix $$

Sounds kinda fishy to me (no offense). However, if its the Toshiba start-up password, and you can't crack it, you're stuck. The notebook is completely locked out - I don't even know if a repair shop could unlock it.

Well, when you power up your notebook, does it just freeze at the Toshiba banner and ask for your password, or does it continue into Windows?

HI:
Its the power on PW just after the Toshiba banner. Its strange though. I was very careful with the entry screen and my daughter was watching me spell it. Have you ever heard of a problem that might be a hardware/software issue such as as this? I am second guessing myself here. Does not look good. Thanks

Well then I really don't know what to tell you. If you got past the banner, you could've reset the Windows password through the BIOS, but if you can't even get into the setup, you're locked out. -
I am sending it to a Toshiba dealer for a supervisor password reset for about $40. Thanks for your responses.

No problem - sorry I couldn't be more of a help. Tell us how it goes!
