    Hi,

I was wondering if any other Toshiba users had seen anything like this...

I have a Toshiba Satellite P35 17" notebook. When I start it up with no internet connection (wireless or ethernet) it takes 2 minutes + before I can do anything. Checking in the task manager shows me that this entire time "Maximizer Startup" is running. As soon as it stops, the system is ready for use (i.e. I can click on the start menu etc).

When booting with a network connection, this "Maximizer Startup" only comes on for a few seconds. It seems like it may be looking for something, but I can't figure out how to tell it not to.

Anyone ever run into something like this? Thanks.

Hmmm... well I was off on that one. I just tried disabling the Notebook Maximizer in msconfig. Now it doesn't come on, and the problem is still there.

I timed it and it is actually closer to 1 minute of 'hang time' after windows starts. I can run the task manager during this time, but nothing else.

It is likely one of your other startup processes, or services. (Since you don't have the problem when you have your wireless on I would suspect it is a related service related to network or Internet or one of your processes trying to check for update(s)).

What processes do you have listed as Auto in control panel - services?

What anti-virus program and firewall are you using, and are they set to check for updates when the system starts?
