If you buy a machine with 64mb or more of dedicated graphics, gaming should be pretty good. Obviously, the better the graphics card, the better the gaming performance. Just make sure you have enough processing power, and enough system ram to complete the package. What models in particular are you looking at?

I also am/was looking for a mobile gaming system. I've recently ordered an ASUS M6Ne. But I did spend quite a bit of time looking at toshi for a suitable system. I didn't find one. That is if your wanting to travel with your notebook, then I suggest something which has long battery life, is fairly light and doesn't have a huge foot print. Thus I came to the conclusion that I needed a PM cpu, no larger than a 15.4 screen, and all at around 3Kg or less, with around a 3-4 hr battery life, and either a ATI 9700, of Fx5700 GPU (I see these aa a must for playing newer games eg far cry, HL2).
As far as I know toshi have nothing like this at the moment.
From memory and I could be wrong I think the only model that came with a high end GPU was the 17" satilite model (FX5700). Of course if weight etc are not issues than maybe this will be ok for ya.
Other wise I would suggest looking around at other manf.
eg. ACER (2010, 2020, 8000), ASUS M6N, Dell 8600, voodoo m370 (if you can afford it), or ECS/Excel M556.
Good luck

I've actually been looking at the Toshiba Satellite P25-S520. I was really wanting the 17" screen, which is why I steered towads this one. Also, Toshiba is a decent brand, from what I have tried and researched.

If it's a notebook your looking to have for travel/on the move, I don't think you'll be moving around a lot with the P25 [
]. A unit with a 17" screen will be heavy and has a very large footprint size, so you're gonna have to have space to use this unit. Plus the unit uses a P4 chip and therefore battery life for extended play will not be there. Somthing like the M30 would be my choice for size, but the lower CPU performance & lower video card/memory config is a bit on the disappointing side.

Current Toshiba range has been nerfed. Ive been using a satellite 5200 for the last year with a UXGA CSV screen.
Looking now, the P20 / 25 range (which is the new multimedia job) comes with a substandard screen. The M30 has the CSV screen, but is not up to the multimedia spec.
Rather annoying, as im due to upgrade and I want bits of each [!]
On the video side, the nvidia 5700 is nice since you can get component output to your tv / projector, however the suggestion is that the ATI 9700 is a better card... and not available from Toshiba. Bugger.
In terms of reliability, in the year ive had the Toshiba, the following parts have died and had to be replaced under warranty:
AC adapter,
Keyboard
PCB,
Motherboard
Lesson: make sure you get a warranty that covers the laptop for as long as you will have it!
Thinking about other options now...
Good luck. -

The new P10 (I think its a P15 in teh USA) has a RADEON 9700.
No one ever reads my posts. [V]
I has a nice 15" screen and 3.2 GHz P4 and is reasonably priced.
I think it might be Windows MCE too. -
The problem Lotus7 had with that unit is the fact the the screen is only WXGA & not the WUXGA.
