Hello Everyone!
Im quite new here, i want to upgrade my cpu in my p100, i got the core duo 1.66 and want upgrade to 2.13, i called the toshiba support and they say that a cpu upgrade is not possible, so i must make it on my own. Is it possible at all to upgrade the p100 with a new cpu? would it be recognised through bios?
thanks for advice!

One more question: Would the P100 Motherboard work with the core 2 duo after a recent bios update?
-
1 - Upgrade your bios (go to your manual) make sure the bios supports this CPU (when you post also write the model e.g. T2300 or T2500).
2 - Touching the CPU voids the warranty.
3 - Think well.Do you really need a CPU upgrade?
4 - Core 2 Duo has not been released yet.Usually companies release a bios upgrade to support new cpus,True, a core 2 duo fits inside a core duo's socket but the bios needs to be upgraded to do that.Several models including XPS1710 have the bios upgrade for Core 2 Duo but it depends on the company.Toshiba looks at their customers the way a vampier looks at his victim ... So I dunno ...
And an Asus S96 or (Z96) had the Merom installed but It grew very hot.Core 2 duo notebooks might need a better cooler or a different design.I dunno... -
Wow, i thought that Core 2 Duo is running cooler then the Core Duo, from what i have read the Core is running on a different voltage so i dont know if the p100 motherboard can take a newer cpu. Still i wanna install a 2.13 Core Duo instead of 1.66 cause it is a 30% power gain at all.

Still wait,Discuss it with ZaZ or Someone else too, they are bound to know more than me.

I would look into upgrading your RAM before your CPU - its cheaper and you'll notice a larger performance gain than just ugrading your CPU. Also be aware that a CPU upgrade will void out your warranty on your notebook.
And, yes, if Toshiba updates the P100 line and doesn't change it, you'll be able to use the newer BIOS and install Core Duo 2 into your notebook.
