So I pulled this laptop apart for a friend to fix the power connector and I ended up soldering a new connector in and putting it all back together. After I got it back together it wouldn't boot and I couldn't figure it out for the longest time.
When I mean "won't boot" I mean I press the power button and the lights come on then I get NO DISPLAY of any kind. No BIOS or ANYTHING.
I finally thought maybe it could be the memory so I pulled out one of the memory sticks and it booted fine. So I thought maybe I had broken one of the memory modules but I put the other one in and it worked fine.
1 memory stick (either one) works in the first or second slot but they DO NOT work when they are both in.
I updated to the latest BIOS off Toshiba's website to no avail.
I cannot figure this one out. I reset the BIOS multiple times and played with the settings with no change. 512MB works but 1GB does not. Any idea?
Thanks,
Matt

Matt: Sorry to cut into this thread - but a question for you - I read some of your old posts where you were talking about updating your Compaq laptop from a celeron to a T2300 processor. Did you do it? Was the upgrade successful? I have a V5209US laptop that I believe has the same mother board as yours. I am considering upgrading the processor.
Thanks. Hope you read this.
