I have a P105-S6084 Notebook which periodically makes a high-pitched and static-like/scraping sound (resmebling that of a dialup modem). it lasts no longer than 2 seconds. the sound comes from the right of the notebook (where the cd drive and battery are).

this frequency is proportional to the number of processes/cpu usage at any given time. also, it happens when the battery is taken out and the cd drive is left open. the problem also isnt operating system specific as its happened on linux, winxp, and vista.

also, sometimes when this happens, if im watching a video file, the video will skip.

    Thank you so much
