Ok here goes I trying to upgrade my old P205 to a higher CPU to be able to use x64 O/S but so far I found this link from wiki.

Socket M - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And it I found something else that say due the chip design P will not work with M chips as well.

ok since I have yet to hear a reply ... I decide from the wiki info to order a T7200 and see how it works as that seems to be sold at reasonable price and from the specs listed should work for my Socket M chipset.

Reporting back I got the T7200 installed and I can run and format for Windows 7x64 Ult. Not a bad choice and price either....so this confirms T7200 works for my model but also updated the BIOS to 1.70 the latest as well.

I have the same laptop and the old 32-bit only CPU. I can find plenty of places to buy a T7200 chip, but how hard was the upgrade? Did you find any online manuals, etc to help? How firmly entrenched was the old CPU?

I know it's been a while -- if you still remember and could share some guidance I'd be most grateful, thanks.

It was a complete takedown to get to the processor it is mounted on the under side of the motherboard and without a complete take down you wont get to it and I think there was a online instruction showing how to take apart the laptop. But be careful of the small white speaker connections to the motherboard those are so delicate take care when removing and reconnecting them. It took me a good part of the day because I was going slowly and making sure I did loose or break any parts in the process. So just plan for a good day to take apart the system and make sure you apply thermal paste since you will have a new processor.

Here's a link that will help you get started...I recall this is the site I used to help with me. Once you get a T7200 you will be able to if you want to install Windows 7x64 instead of just Windows7x86
