Hey I am looking at perhaps buying a Toshiba P25-S5263 from costco for $1700.
    Link: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?whse=&topnav=&prodid=10048854

I will be using the laptop mostly for school work, internet, and watching/burning DVD's, but I do like to have afew application running at one time. I play afew computer games like half life 2, and I will very rarley be carrying the notebbok around so weight and size is not an issue. I really want it to be good for DVD's and MP3's. Finally I need the laptop for atleast 4 years.

Will this computer be good for what I am looking for? any potential problems?
Is there anything else I should consider that is close in price?
    THANKS IN ADVANCE

    Hi anilm27,
Toshiba makes a very nice notebook, but if your a big gamer I don't see this one as filling your needs as it's 3D performance will be fairly limited with the Go5200 video controller; it should do very well on pre-2003 games though. You might go ask in some gaming forums how the Go5200 will work for the games you want to play. As far as the newly released or about to be released 3D games, I think you would be disappointed in it's performance. It sould do very well for playing DVDs and MP3s and will not be too outdated for general office/desktop applications for several years, but for gaming it already is outdated somewhat.

    good luck
    Jack
