I owned a Toshiba Satellite A200 and bought an extra generic AC adapter to use at work so I didn't have to bring it to and fro.

I just bought a Toshiba P750 laptop, but the A200 AC adapter plug doesn't fit so I haven't used it. None of the plugs that came with the generic AC adapter fit properly in the P750 either.

But tonight, I left my AC adapter in the office and I still need to finish a project. I tried my A200 AC adapter again, and while it still doesn't fit, the P750 is now detecting "plugged in, charging".

Is it safe to use this non-fitting AC adapter to charge up my battery just for tonight? Or could it do lasting damage?

Does anyone have a recommendation of a generic one I can get which has a plug which would fit the P750? Did they redesign a different AC adapter for these newer Toshiba laptops?

Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm charging it right now though I'm afraid it might do some damage. I guess it's also not good for the hole since I just pushed it in when it didn't fit well.
