    Hi,

The provided laptop at my new job is intermittently whirring (every second or so) and I feel I'm about to chuck it out the window.

I don't feel I have the privileges to take it home and tinker with the insides, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to set the fan at a constant speed and save me from disgrace at work?

    Please help!

    Hi there,

I have fixed the problem a little; I thought I'd post an update in case anyone else had the same problem.

There was a program called "toshiba flash cards" that was running in the background and taking up a lot of my cpu. I followed googled instructions to shut it down and the constant whirring has deceased. Now there is only a whir now and then and I think I will be able to save my job :)

    Cheers,
