Some refer to all the pre-installed programs/utilities as crapware.
    My question is...
Can the pre-installed Toshiba stuff be uninstalled safely without affecting the operation of the computer?

In other words...is all this pre-installed Toshiba crap necessary?

This is a new Qosmio X505-Q894

Besides uninstalling Norton, I just leave it alone. I'm worried myself I might eff something up getting rid of the crapware. lol. I have the Q892 and now I'm regretting I didn't get the i7 models. Can yours game unplugged without dropping framerates on games like Call of Duty 4?

Yeah, first thing I did was get rid of Norton.
Don't know bout the gaming yet, just got this home a couple of days ago and not quite finished setting it up the way I want it. I know I'll have Black OP's under the tree next weekend...it'll have to wait, but I'll let ya know.
Still, I'd love to get rid of all these Toshiba Utilities, but I'm not into a system reinstall. Hopefully someone here knows the lowdown.

ok update me on the gaming unplugged issue, and congrats on your purchase. Oh also I suggest you get Battlefield Bad Company 2 only $14.99 on steam. At first you'll think Cod is better, but when you break the learning curve in multiplayer BFBC2 it gets deep and you'll feel so immersed like your in a real war environment. When I got my Q892 after the Thanksgiving weekend I wanted to put it through some rigorous testing and bought BFBC2 and then Modern Warfare 2 at first I thought BFBC2 was crap and only played MW2 especially multiplayer, when I wanted a change and went back to learn BFBC2 multiplayer, and now I just see MW2 as just a "video game" as compared to a virtual world in BFBC2. Sorry for going on don't wanna hi jack this thread, but yeah looking forward to the update.

As part of my back up files, or Recovery Discs...I also installed Drivermax and extracted all the drivers from my machine.
I guess if it bothers me enough I can buy a OEM Windows 7 Home Premium, install it and install all the drivers back in, BUT...what a pain in the A$$ to have to go to that extream and extra cost just to have the Laptop you bought and paid for to run the way you want it to.

alls you need to do is burn the recovery discs and burn a toshiba driver recovery, and recover the laptop to factory standards. then when its all done. uninstall all the drivers toshiba installs. and then reinstall all the toshiba drivers and apps that you want using the toshiba driver drisc.
