I am trying to use a cd drive which connects to the computer via PCMPIA card, but am unable to get the computer to reconize it. I have a Xirecom LAN card that it reconizes no problem but not the cd drive.
The cd accepts power from the computer and spins up but computer can not read the disk. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Thanks

Are you trying to boot off of this CD Drive or just use it in Windows?

If you're using it in Windows, it's most likely a driver issue, you need to get the drivers from the manufacturer. If your trying to boot off of this drive, many people have had problems booting with non-Toshiba recommended drives (Noteworthy). I think Toshiba did something so that it mainly works with the Noteworthy units.

Any PCMCIA CD drive compatible with windows XP should work in windows XP, if you have windows 98 will be a problem, you need CD ROM driver installed, if you do not have OS on your HD, need find bootable CD drive, one is PORT Noteworthy NW24XCD.
