So. I have a Toshiba Qosmio X775 7273. Decided to update bios. Toshiba had an update for it. So I ran it, using the toshiba tool. I know using windows to update the bios is not recommended, but hey ,Toshiba has a program for it, It just asks to have a PSU attached and to close all other programs. So I did it, everything seemed to be going fine. So it ended, restarted and then, when the windows 7 logo start doing the animation, the computer freezes. I tried rebooting and entering the bios pressing f2 repeatedly but it wont go trough. I tough, well, I can restart windows 7 I don't mind loosing the info. So I insert the windows 7 dvd, its asks me to press any key to star loading the files, I do so, and the, again, I get a black screen and stays there.
So, what are my options ?. Help would be appreciated as I need it asap to work.

Not sure how to address your issue, I don't want to give poor advise which could really mess up your laptop. If your unable to receive adequate help here in the Toshiba subforums, I can move this thread to the Hardware subforums of NBR. Computer Hardware Forum
If you want it moved, just reply here. You can choose to move it now or in a couple days.
Good luck -
Hi Jpnankervis,
For two days now I have been experiencing the same issue after trying to update my bios to v2.0 for my Toshiba Qosmio X775-3Dv80.
After flashing the bios, the computer shuts down and then upon trying to restart it would freeze either on the windows start sequence or after trying to perform the recommended startup repair. It won't start up in safe mode or any other mode when I press f8 on re-start (and this makes sense to me if the bios is corrupted).
I have tried making a bootable cd with the latest bios update on it from the software you can download from the toshiba website (however I can't seem to get the computer to boot from this cd and change any thing - no beeps or anything heard).
From what I've read the computer can boot from HDD, USB or CD, etc and to change where the computer boots from, you have to change it when windows 7 has started up. As I can't start windows up, this doesn't help me.
I have read that some laptops have a main and a backup bios, but I have had no luck finding out whether this laptop has a duel-bios or not. If it does then maybe there is a way to access the backup bios rather than loading the main bios.
I hope this adds to finding a solution, and will let you know if I am able to find a fix! It's a pretty frustrating problem tho. Let me know if you find out how to fix it! -
Hi Jpnankervis,
I have just fixed my laptop and now it works fine.
What I had to do is created a bios bootable cd. For this, click on the following link to find the latest bio update for your laptop. Toshiba Support - Homepage (Obviously you need another computer with a CD drive to do this)
Download this and then by clicking on the .exe file it should help you to create a bootable cd from an .iso image file. Once this is done, place this cd into your toshiba and turn the toshiba laptop off, by holding the off button for ten seconds.
Hold F2 button and press the power button. This should bring you to an advanced boot menu, scroll through to the right and their will be a screen where you can press F5 & F6 to modify what is booted first. You want to change this so that the CD drive is at the top of this list. Press 'F10' I think and this saves, closes and reboots.
On reboot, you should see a dos style screen arise. After about 10 or so seconds, you should see c:/ waiting for you to type something. Type bios and press enter and this will re-flash your bios. Obviously, ensure your laptop is connected to the power whilst this is happenening. Follow the prompts and this should shut the computer down after re-flashing of the bios has occured. This paragraph is just following the instructions from the bios version, that you should see on the website. Follow these, there is one other step which I have a vague memory of. Its similar to pressing F2 then power on re-boot, then check the bios is the correct version, press F9 to restore default settings, then press F10 to save and reboot.
Ensure you have the boot cd out on reboot and just opt to start windows normally when prompted and this should work. Hope this fixes your problem like it did for me.
Cheers, Doddaazza -
I've updated and down graded the bios on several laptops. Why on earth Toshiba gives the Windows option is nuts.
Glad you guys made it out alive! -

Found this on the Toshiba Support site:
System problems and/or boot lockups occur after a BIOS update has been installed
**EDIT**
Oh, and just in case you were wondering, there's a new BIOS for the x770 series Qosmio, BIOS 2.10. Supposed to address the hangup issue.
