I have A Toshiba Qosmio F20 Laptop and when trying to use the recovery disk that cam with my laptop I'm all of a sudden getting the error wrong disk. I have used the disk multiple times but for some reason it will no longer work. Is there some way that I can reset the DMI settings so that the recovery disk will work again.

I don't think altering the DMI is an acceptable way of going about this as that would circumvent the settings in place to ensure that an OEM copy of Windows is not transfered between computers in a manner which would be approved by Microsoft or Toshiba.

If the disc worked before, but not now there must be a reason & changing the current DMI is not necessary. Either there is a problem with the hardware, the BIOS or your recovery disk. Have you made any changes since last using the recovery disc? Such as major hardware changes or BIOS updates? Also it would be wise to contact Toshiba to see if this is a known issue and order a new recovery disc if available.

I still have not found a fix. I had windows XP Media center edition on my laptop but had to install XP Home and now my shortcut buttons don't work anymore.

I just repaired a Qosmio that the recovery CD's would not work - error pointed to DMI which was correct or bad HDD. Ended up having to replace system board and then recovery CD's ran fine.
