    Hello everyone,

Joined this site, because i need some help in diagnosing the problem with my laptop, its approx 4 yrs old now.
Took it to local repair company: Laptop Repair | Quick PC Repair | Bradford PC Computer Repairs | Yorkshire Laptop Repair | Laptop Motherboard repairs| Leeds Laptop Repair | Leeds Computer Repairs | Computer Shop Bradford | Computer laptop repair shop leeds
They said its the graphics card which is built on to the motherboard and also that it is a common fault on this model?...

Has anyone else also experienced this problem and do you have any solutions?

will a motherboard replace solve the problem, as the company i have mentioned did say this and because its a refurb part it will have a 3 month warranty, is this worth the hassle?... although quote was cheaper that alot of other companies. took it into pc world and they wanted me to just dump it?

some pointing in the right direction will be much helpful, also how can i retreive my data from this laptop?

    Thank You
    Billy

Hello Billy, and Welcome to NBR!

The thing is, I don't know if your motherboard is dying or not, but a motherboard replace in 4 year old machine is not a smart move. Motherboards are expencive. I would buy a new laptop instad of changing motherboard.

Enjoy your stay at NBR, there is much to learn here, for all of us :)

I agree with tuηay. Unless the repair is unexpensive, I wouldn't go for it. And if I did repair it, it would be more of a temporal solution until I save for a new laptop that I like. I wouldn't expect it to last.

I had a motherboard replaced on a 4 year old Dell once (also because of an Nvidia card) and now, 4 years later, is still working, so you never know. If I remember correctly, I paid $300. But 4 years ago laptops were way more expensive than they are now.
