I have heard good things about G35-AV600--in terms of media--and I have a couple of questions.

how is the weight? I thought I read somewhere that it is just about 10 pounds. Although that seems inordinately heavy for daily mobility, I just wanted to know if its that bad if you actually do bring it around

Are the a/v features much better than similar systems i.e something like the Dell Inspiron E1705-which is much cheaper?

The reason I am attracted to the labtop is for a/v work. The graphic card doesn't concern me as much (nVidia GeForce Go 7300) because I never play games.
So if any one has the Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV600 and does a lot of video work like editing, recording t.v., movie storage on hard drive. I would just like to see how you feel about it.
    Thanks.

Well, there's nothing too special in terms of ports on the Qosmio - just the regular DVI, S-Video Out (think it may have a S-Video In too), RGB, USB, and IEEE 1394. If you're just getting it for ports, then don't - an E1705 will do just fine.

Mobility is pretty limited on this notebook, unless you're used to carrying a bulky 10-pound weight everywhere - I wouldn't take it hardly anywhere, unless I was going on a big trip or had to have my notebook (my family has one - G15 model, which is about the same weight).

I would try to go for the model that has the UXGA screen as well - you'll benefit from the extra screen real-estate, especially with video editing and watching movies. The Qosmio's screen is also the best in the market in terms of clarity (IMO) and bightness.
