Was wondering whether or not the newer toshiba qosmio (x700 and the newer x800 to be launch in a few months) features a gpu in mxm for the end user to upgrade the graphics card??

I was hoping to purchase a glasses-free 3d model and up the gpu to Nvidia GTX680M for optimal 3d gaming performance...REALLY digging the chasis and design of the Qosmio 875, and would have to end up going with an MSI GT70 if it turns out i cant upgrade.

Most likely can't upgrade. Looks like you'll be going MSI.

How are you so sure? Does your 505 not have MXM? What about the x700 lineup??

x505 does not have standardized MXM [it's a Toshiba proprietary MXM slot].
I'm guessingit will be the same with the x775/x875.

The x700 has an MXM slot. I have confirmed this!

However, what will fit into that slot is not yet known since there's no one who's willing to buy a $400 GTX 570M just for testing purposes.

As far as I know, The 570M is no larger than the 560M in all actuality, so there's a very possible chance that you could upgrade the x700 models to something a bit more... potent. ;)

But the x870 will probably have something that's very similar. :)

As I stated, I'm confident that Toshiba will follow suit and continue to use the MXM slot that all of the other laptops use. However, I cannot guarantee this.

The X775 line has an MXM slot, so I imagine that the x875 will have one too.

Hello, I own a Qosmio X775-q7272 with gtx 560m in it. So is it possible for me to upgrade the card? If it is I really would but of course I do not know if it is supported by the bios and the motherboard.

And by the way I have another question: Is it possible to swap my 60 hz 900p monitor with a 120 hz 1080p one? Thx.

They do not make a separate 120hz 1080p screen you can readily replace unfortunately. The standard 60hz 1080p screens are around, but not the former.

As for what you can upgrade to, it's hit or miss. I'd start with something simple like a GTX 570M but that's ONLY IF YOUR TEMPERATURES ARE OKAY AT THE MOMENT!!!

Thanks for the clarification on the display issue. but my doubt was because there is an exactly matching sized and designed model for the 3d version of x775 series.

Heavily OC'ed 560m is still good thanks to a cooling setup. So is it (physically possible and) feasible for me to go for gtx 580m or because my CPU is 2630qm, will there be a cpu bottleneck regardless of whatever I buy above 570m? Or maybe wait for qosmio series to get a gtx 675 and upgrade to it given the similar size of the next generation qosmios.

If so I am willing to jump in. The unfortunate part is the inability to overclock sandybridge mobile CPUs (non extreme ones).
