    A little better, but 2GB is still sad. For $2500, I would expect 2X 2GB SODIMMs for a total of 4GB. :)

you could just upgrade for cheaper. same goes for the hard drive. You would pay just as much for a 570RU than you would for this system running montevina with the 9800m GTX

Why would you want to upgrade when you're spending so much money already?

It's DDR 3. Desktop 4GB DDR3 kits start at ~$200. Desktop 4GB DDR2 kits start at ~$70. Thats a nearly 3X higher price. DDR3 SO-DIMMs probably cost over 3X DDR2 SO-DIMMS, since they are brand new to the market. Just my 2 cents.

thank you. your the only new poster that apreciates these specs so far. its actually vgood value.

you can compare the same form factor M570RU (make a config at www.xoticpc.com to see price) and you will easily go over the 3500 and its only DDR2 on the santa rosa platform when this is the new Montevina platform.

It runs cooler, uses less energy (so longer battery) has smaller MB and can use higher spec parts including the upcoming WIMAX wireless.

I know it's probably just speculation but any ideas on what kind of battery life to expect?

if you want a laptop with great sound (like the best you can get on a laptop) and descent graphics, i would reccomend the acer aspire gemstone blue. it actually has a subfoofer cylinder and a blue ray drive as standard !!!

its also insanely cheap for its price as acer manufactured like 1milion at once.

    there is a 16inch and an 18inch

i would expect to get about 3.5hours on the 6920(16inch) with some slight undervolting of the cpu.

I know this is the toshiba forum but I'd secon the acer it's pretty hard to beat bang for buck wise. The 16inch display i tried out seemed decent.

Not a very good one :D

It's a gaming laptop so u cnt expect much in terms of battery. However, i do expect it to wipe the floor with the 8600GT ddr3

The 9700m GTS is the equivalent of which of the older graphics cards?
In terms of battery life, we'll have to see it for ourselves when the notebook comes out. It should be pretty decent at 2-3 hours.

There are rumors abound. I personally would place it somewhere in between a 8700m GT and a 8800m GTS just judging from the name. Hopefully closer to the latter. It does have the prerequisite 512mb GDDR3. Either way, its going to be an epic gaming laptop. Nearly up there with the m15x and the new clevo.

Battery life shouldnt be too bad i suppose. Nvidia made the desktop 9xxx series a little less power-hungry when idling.
