    Hello everyone,

Here's my problem ; a while ago, while playing games on my laptop, it would occasionally shut down like once a night, not long ago it would shut down every 4-5 hours, and recently as soon as I launch a game my laptop shuts down.

Looking around on the Internet, many places suggested that my issue would be overheating problems, such as this website
; which is true since I'm getting GPU & Core temperatures over 100°C

I cleaned my laptop, there's no dust at all. One thing I find weird though, is that I can't hear the fans, at all.
When I put my hand under the laptop, there's no airflow either..

Are there any programs or any test that could tell me if the fans are defective?

    I downloaded this software: Speedfan
and my fans don't even show up

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :)

Go to Toshiba support and find a local authorized service center and get your fans fixed.

I read in another thread where they say the fan works at max speed when you start the computer, so I did the test, flipping the computer upside down and the fan does work - it's just silent I guess.

    I went and bought:

    and

And my computer is running sweet so far :)

~60°C while gaming  that's basically half of the temperature I was getting before, so I'm happy

If in the future if it still overheats I'll apply thermal paste but for now I'll leave it as it is, I already broke the keyboard once when disassembling it :D

    Thanks for the answers guys!

the undervolting guide may help bring the temps down further.

Also there is a tool from toshiba to test your fan.
It's called cooling performence tool or something.

    Go here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

Select notebook>tecra>tecra A series>tecra A10 (I know this isn't your notebook but it will work for you, I think...)

Press search and download the cooling Performance Diagnostic Tool.

    wow, sorry about that :(

I though it would work since it worked for me, and I dont have the tecra a10.

But you might want to browse that site and look for the software and drivers from other models.

    Because sometimes they work.

For example, my notebook didn't come with toshiba DVD player software but I downloaded it from another models driver page and it works.

I guess the model has to be very simmilar though.
