I'm in the market for a new laptop in the sub $1500 range, and I was looking at the Asus G50Vt, but it is just a little out of my price range and I want something with better graphics than your average 32 shader 9600, 9650, or 9700GT. So I came to the Toshiba X305s and F55-Q504. I just have some questions about them...

On the X305-Q705, is it really worth its $1500.00 price tag at Best Buy or should I buy the X305- Q701 which is in Best Buy's outlet section at $999.99? Does Best Buy selling them in the outlet section mean they are used laptops that have been beat up on? Is their any major performance difference between the Q701 and Q705? It looks like the only difference is a smaller 200GB HD in the Q701, are their any other differences in terms of hardware or software included? What are upgradability options like if I wanted to upgrade the existing hard drive or upgrade the processor to a P8400 or better? Is it possible to add another 9700GTS or 9800GTS or one or the other in SLI since the more expensive models sold have those cards in them?

Lastly, as for the F55-Q405, I read somewhere here that you cannot add another hard drive because Toshiba physically removed the second SATA connector. Is that true? Can you upgrade the existing hard drive to a 7200RPM? How about the processor to a P8400 or better?

Just would like some of these things clarified before I pull the trigger on either one of these...

    Thanks! :D

the reason the x305 is an outlet item is because a new Qosmio model is cmoing out or is out and they need to get rid of them. the x305's are brand new. For 999.99 you can't go wrong

I'd love to, but I can't because I don't have the required number of forum posts.

Go to Best Buy's website and type in X305 in the search bar and you should get two Qosmio models, the X305-Q705 for $1500 or the -Q701 for $999.99.

Also, it is a relief to hear the X305-Q701's in the outlet are brand new!

I have the Qosmio F55 and YES you can upgrade the hard drive to a faster 7200RPM, very easy to do, small panel under the bottom, 1 screw and panel comes out and you can pull the hard drive out. YES you can upgrade the CPU. You will have to take apart the laptop, just follow the steps for the X305 as it is pretty similar. I have swapped out my CPU to a Intel Extreme X9100 CPU and can swap it out now in about 5 minutes. I hope this helps. God Bless :)

The q701 is a killer deal. It is certainly probably the best bang for buck out there now. I mean, this laptop has speakers that are probably the best in the laptop category. Plus it has specs good enough to play upcoming games for the next 2 years at the very least.

    I highly recommend it =)
